Gastein valley lies there at your feet as you turn north at the Stubnerkogel mountain lift station, following a beautiful, easy mountain trail past the transmitter station, and across the meadows of the „Senderhang” down to the Stubneralm. From here it is mainly flat through an ancient mountain forest to the new reservoir and the mid-station. Now either by lift to the valley station or on foot via the clearly marked hiking path, following the ski piste in parts and passing massive flash-flood prevention measures (ca. 1 hr.).
Anyone who wants to avoid the downhill walking, can of course do the tour in the opposite direction: In a wide arc, you walk on almost flat ground from the middle station of Stubnerkogelbahn north through the beautiful forest to Stubneralm. With great views and sunny weather it now goes swiftly, but never too steep to climb over the gorgeous blooming mountain meadows to the mountain station. (Walking time: about 2 hours). With the Stubnerkogelbahn you can then travel comfortably to the parking lot.
