This used to be dense forest, but now you quite often wanders across clear fields up to the small Böckfeldalm. First, the path is wide and quite steep, but soon it turns into a lovely, well-marked mountain trail. The view down on the beautiful Böcksteiner Sanctuary "maria zum guten Rat" are always impressive. After a brief hours of walking it is worth a stop on the Böckfeldalm - not only because of the magnificent view across to the Radhausberg and Schareck. After apple-juice and a snack you can start the next part of the journey. The meadow slopes above the Böckfeldalm are decorated with countless mountain flowers, including some botanical rarities. The trail is not difficult, but it crosses very steep wooded slopes and in some places there are an additional safety rope in place, however, sure-footedness and a steady head are still required. Impressive are the views down the Gastein, Naßfelder and Anlauftal. The magnificent forest with spruce, pine and larch trees is economically difficult to use due to the steep terrain, so here, you can actually walk through.
From there, the middle station of the Stubnerkogelbahn is already in sight. But reaching the summit is a must on a good mountain hike, so we cross the wide dirt trail and hike the up mountain trail that continues through the Hirschkar up to the distinctive avalanche. We treck, for a few minutes, to the east over to the memorial cross of the mountain rescue Hirschkarköpfl, which is surrounded by dense, fragrant pines and mountain climbers are rewarded with a magnificent view of the valley. We go back to Zitteraueralm and from there it’s about 10 minutes to the central station of the Stubnerkogelbahn.
